Mile High-5's for Downtown Denver

This week, it’s Mile-High 5’s from a very low dog. Our crusty old wire-coat dachshund, Ramon, shares his five favorite places to sniff. And, it’s not what you think.

1. Almost everything a scent hound does has something to do with food, especially in the urban environment. That makes the grates around the trees outside the Tattered Cover a prime target. Just one time, years ago, he found, and quickly consumed an entire peanut butter sandwich that had fallen to the tree base. So he never goes by without that canine optimism that there will be more.

2. Along Cherry Creek, particularly when the people are floating by. Looking for wildlife. Which would likely frighten him immensely.

3. Categorically, near any construction site where there is usually an abundance of discarded chicken bones and burrito wrappers.

4. Behind the teller’s counter at the Bank of the West where Chelsea keeps the dog treats for 4-legged visitors.

5. And, being close to the ground, lady’s shoes. Well…he’s a dog.
